Today students continued on with their NURBS Modeling unit--Students began and completed lesson 3: Lofting Curves. When students complete this lesson, make sure that the circles are being selected in the correct order to make a proper lofted surface.

Today students will continue working on their Egg Head/ Egg Holder project. When they are finished, make sure that the egg head is sitting in the egg holder and then drop the project into the "Egg Head / Egg Holder DropBox"! See directions from previous post for more detailed information!

Friday September 13th (NO SCHOOL!)--Monday Sepetmber 16th (B Day) & Thursday 9/19 (A Day)
Today students will begin a new lesson in NURBS Modeling. As a class, students will learn how to use a new tool called their CV Curve Tool. We will learn how to plot points on a grid and rotate a line around a point to create objects. After the class tutorials students will begin NURBS Modeling from their online tutorials. See instructions below!
September 11th & 12th
Today students will begin their first Mini Lesson. The mini lessons consists of making a complete object but using what students have learned thus far and to use their imagination to complete the task at hand. The first mini lesson is the Table. Students take what they learned from their Temple project, take what they know about tables (what does a table consist of?) and use their imagination to create a interesting table. I tell student to think about marketing this table to a store, design for interest and originality. Students may take this mini lesson as far as they would like...for instance: many students add chairs, place settings, vases, etc. Please see below for more instructions.

9/5-9/10
Students will continue working on their temple project. Once students are done with the written directions they need to add in three extra items to their temple.
Students use what they have learned to add the three non directed additions to their temple.
Temples will be due at the end of class on:
Monday (A days) September 9th and
Tuesday (B Days) September 10th.

9/3 & 9/4 Temple!
Today students learned how to find their written tutorials on the Maya website and began building their first project from the tutorials: The Temple. Students followed along in class with me to learn how to read the directions more easily.
Tips: Think about anything with a number as a task and everything that is in bold as a click. If you come to bold words with a > sign in between, that means it is a series of clicks.
For instance:
1. Go to your main menu
2. Click Create > Polygon Primitives > Sphere
In number 1 they were telling you where to go to find number two and in number two they want you to click on Create first, then polygon primitives, and then sphere.
We as a class will build our temple bases together and then students will be reading the directions on their own, at their own pace to complete the temple directions.
Tip for completion: ALWAYS FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. It is 100 times easier to follow the instructions AND then numbers they give you rather than trying to put this whole temple together by guessing! Students grades will be based on correct completion with specific numbers used from the given instructions.
